The WJP Index, published by MVI Marketing's Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC), is a relative measure of retail consumers' most recent and expected jewelry purchasing, updated on a regular basis. The WJP Index offers a powerful combination of both short-term and long-term tracking of consumer behavior—shown in increments of seven days—and is an invaluable tool to measure the actions of actual consumers within the fluctuating retail jewelry market.

The following graph presents a comparison of 2005 and 2006 WJP Indices. Examine the WJP Index for purchasing history and trends that affect your growth and profits. Contact us if you would like to extrapolate more information from our studies.

The Index is interpreted as consumer purchasing relative to a base period average. Use the WJP Index as an invaluable tool to gauge the actions of actual consumers within the fluctuating retail jewelry market.

JCOC doesn’t just do individual studies; it also conducts a variety of trend studies, including the Monthly Buying Trends. Every month the JCOC participants receive and complete a Monthly Tracking study which examines consumer purchasing behavior within a given month. With the extensive database for this series, JCOC is able to establish trends within all varieties of calendar configurations.
Following is a graph which portrays JCOC respondents' buying patterns with different jewelry styles from May of 2005 to November 2006. This information is only the tip of the iceberg.
Presented by itself the information is invaluable, especially when used in conjunction with the entire Monthly Buying Trend study results. JCOC consumer panelists are asked throughout the year about their most recent jewelry purchases, and about their experiences when purchasing jewelry online, at a retail outlet, or from a TV home shopping station.
A compilation and analyses of all of JCOC's Monthly Buying Trend Reports, as well as all of JCOC's 2006 and earlier studies, will be contained within the upcoming 2006 Year-in-Review Report. To find out more, read the following article and/or contact us.
